Departments

In 1998, when the Faculty of Social Studies was founded, it consisted of 5 departments, however the history of some of the disciplines is much longer. Under the Faculty of Arts, the Department of Sociology was founded as soon as 1921, by I. A. Bláha, direct student of Émile Durkheim. During further development of the independent social studies faculty at Masaryk University in the new millenium, new departments grew and some of the older ones branched into several field divisions.
