FSS MUNI’s Open House Welcomed Prospective Students and Their Parents

On Friday, January 17, 2025, the Faculty of Social Studies at Masaryk University hosted its Open House, welcoming hundreds of prospective bachelor’s students. This year’s event combined the traditional program—featuring presentations of our individual degree programs, lectures on the admissions process, and guided tours of the faculty—with several exciting new elements.

Throughout the day, attendees could visit the Ivo Možný Atrium to speak directly with current students from various disciplines. Visitors received practical insights into academic life, learned more about opportunities for studying abroad, and explored the faculty's English-taught bachelor’s programs. Special attention was dedicated to prospective students from Slovakia via a thematic information booth, which provided guidance on study opportunities and practical advice about living in Brno.

The program also included sessions specifically for parents of future college students. A lecture led by the Vice-Dean for Education and the Dean of the Faculty addressed frequently asked questions about the admissions process, criteria for acceptance without entrance exams, and housing options in Brno.

The accompanying program was also a major highlight. Guided tours of the faculty library showcased its welcoming study spaces, while high school students had the chance to try out roles in front of the camera and behind the microphone at the faculty’s television and radio studios. Additionally, sociology and other themed cafés created a relaxed atmosphere where visitors could connect with students and faculty members to hear about their experiences and gather valuable tips for studying.

Applications for Czech-taught bachelor’s programs are open until February 28th.
