November at the FSS: A Month Full of Inspiring Events

This November at the Faculty of Social Studies was marked by a vibrant varied program, engaging events, and visits from notable personalities. Among the highlights were Tea with the Dean and the graduation ceremonies, which you can read more about in other articles in this newsletter. The faculty, however, also hosted several other interesting events.

The US Ambassador, Bijan Sabet, visited the FSS and delivered a public lecture focused on contemporary international relations and politics. Another notable event was an exhibition of portraits of female ambassadors serving in Prague. The photographs were taken by Ambassador Sabet himself, while the accompanying texts were written by the Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Martina Mlinarević. The exhibition's grand opening was attended by the featured ambassadors, as well as the university rector, Martin Bareš.

The Ivo Možný Atrium also hosted an exhibition dedicated to war veterans, accompanied by a charity fundraiser selling poppies to support veterans. The fundraiser, organized by Paměť národa (the |NGO Memory of the Nation), generated great interest—so much so that the supplies of poppies at the library's sales point had to be restocked several times.

At the end of November another exhibition was launched in the atrium, this time dedicated to Belarusian human rights defender and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Ales Bialiatski.

The FSS is pleased to have brought many inspiring gatherings and cultural experiences in November, which enriched the academic environment and fostered dialogue on important societal issues.
