September at the Faculty was marked by celebrations and symbolic new beginnings. First, the auditorium was filled with graduates who received their diplomas during the festive graduation ceremonies. A post-COVID record of fourteen graduation groups shows how much the Faculty has continued to grow. For the first time, two entire graduation groups consisted of students from the programs taught in English. FSS is the only faculty at Masaryk University that traditionally organizes graduation ceremonies fully in English for them.
At the very end of the month, the auditorium once again came to life as the doors to the academic world opened for a new generation: a record number of newly admitted students took their seats at the matriculation ceremonies. September thus became a month that, in one breath, closed the study journeys of our graduates while opening new ones for our first-year students.
Read the latest installment of our series introducing colleagues from across the faculty. In each edition, we ask one colleague the same seven questions. This time, we spoke with Jan Kříž, Head of the FSS Central Library.
Our traditional Semestr-End gathering took place on the last Wednesday in June. Starting at 4 p.m., colleagues came together in the auditorium and in the courtyard, where the event continued to provide a great atmosphere throughout the hot afternoon and into the evening. We were delighted to see so many people take the opportunity to meet informally with colleagues from across the faculty. There were refreshments, a relaxed, pleasant atmosphere, and a well-deserved break after the busy end of the semester.
