Series about the People of FSS
We bring you another part of the column introducing colleagues from various departments of the faculty. In each issue, you can look forward to the same seven questions for one person. This time we interviewed Petr Barták from the Department of Journalism.

“Simply put, I’m here to make sure the Department of Journalism doesn't burn down. I take care of our specialized classrooms from Studio 5.27, the TV studio, the editing room, PC54, and the radio studio. That adds up to some 48 computers and a bunch of special equipment. I am responsible for lending out equipment and generally all the equipment in the department that doesn't fall under CIKT. From acquisition to possible servicing to eventually being written off.”
Petr Barták
What does your ideal morning look like?
When I can sleep in so that I wake up naturally and not with help from the alarm clock. It's light and sunny outside, and I know we will be going for a walk with the dog. The dog doesn't make any trouble. My girlfriend and I would be having breakfast at the hotel restaurant because we're on vacation in the Alps.
Can you recommend a good café or lunch place in Brno to our colleagues?
I think everybody in the area has got their lunch spots figured out. So I'd rather recommend a good weekend breakfast at the Eggo Food Truck & Bistro or Coffee Trail.
What has surprised you the most in the last six months?
After all these years at the faculty and the last few years of world events, I guess nothing surprises me anymore.
What do you look forward to the most during your working day?
For something to break me out of my routine. Whether it's a streamed debate from the atrium or students from the radio or TV when they need help realizing an idea.
What's your favorite place at the faculty?
I love all the classrooms in our Department of Journalism. They're kind of like my babies.
What's your most productive hour at work?
When the food coma wears off after lunch. I don't do anything creative in the morning.
What book have you read recently?
I've never been a big reader, but my girlfriend gave me a copy of 1984 as a graphic novel for Christmas. And to make up for it with something positive, I'm reading Three Men in a Boat - again as a graphic novel.
