Let's get acquainted?
My name is Arina and I am from Russia. I am a second-year student of the Energy Policy Studies Master's program at Masaryk University and so far, studying here is the best thing that has happened to me in terms of my studies!
The first time I heard about Masaryk University was during my study on an exchange program at the University of Bologna in Italy, where I met guys from the Czech Republic who were there on Erasmus. Their stories about the modern and advanced technologies of the Social Studies Faculty pleasantly surprised me. Later on, they also mentioned the super-popular, especially among foreigners Energy Security Studies program (former name of the program). At that moment, I was just thinking about where to go after completing my bachelor's degree and start collecting more information about the program. During my studies in the Political Science program at Saint-Petersburg State University, I always wanted to focus on something narrower and more practical, at the same time of great importance to society. Energy policy sounded like a perfect solution. That said, the intriguing course titles, internship opportunities, and high employment rates at the end of the program created a promising prospect. Therefore, I sent the documents, passed the interview, applied for a visa, and arrived with burning eyes.
And the miracle happened. I liked (and still do) everything: incredible teachers excellently explaining the material, friendly classmates, fascinating lectures, and assignments! Of course, the coronavirus has made its adjustments to my plans. So that already half of my studies are taking place online. Nevertheless, the entire university team is trying so hard to compensate for all the shortcomings and provide us with full-fledged training. And, in my opinion, they do great! Of course, it's a shame that we don't have field trips. We can't organize events as we did before the pandemic. Yet even at this time, studying here is incredibly inspiring.
Why would I recommend applying for Energy Policy Studies?
Because studying here will give you a comfortable and inviting atmosphere for self-development and education. It will improve your ability to think critically, give you extensive knowledge about the features of energy policy in all its manifestations, as well as contacts to enter the energy community. Do you want to learn about how the oil, gas, and electricity markets function and develop from specialists in this field? Do you want to know more about renewable energy and nuclear energy? Or are you interested in the geopolitical aspects of energy resources? Then this is the place for you.
What is it like studying a full degree English program?
My knowledge of English is still far from ideal. However, I can say with confidence that I feel significant progress. The longer I study in an English-speaking program, the more I communicate in all formats. Professors understand that many of us are not native speakers and always try to support and understand us, not paying attention to some grammatical errors and inaccuracies. Also, the faculty has courses aimed at developing abilities in writing in English, as well as academic skills that help to integrate into the international scientific environment. So, don't be afraid and apply.
