How to Apply

How do I submit an application?

Students must submit a complete application by the deadline using our Electronic application. Only completed and paid applications will be evaluated.

When does the application become available?

Applications become available September 1 for starting in the fall term, and July 15 for the spring term.

What are the application deadlines?

Fall start:

  • April 30 for MA programmes
  • June 1 for BA prograrmmes

Spring start:

  • November 15 for both BA and MA programmes

Can I still apply after the deadline?

Application deadlines are strictly enforced. Applications, supporting documentation, and application fee must be received by the appropriate deadline.

When will I know the result?

Acceptance is on a rolling admission.

What programmes do you offer?

The Faculty offers many programmes with the language of instruction in English: 3 BA programmes, 8 MA programmes, and 7 PhD programmes

Can I study in English?

Yes, students who enroll in our programs taught in English are able to completely study in English.

Can I study in Czech?

Any student can apply for a degree program taught in Czech, however they will need to apply through the normal admissions process for Czech studies. Please visit the website in Czech for more information.

Application Materials

Do I need to send a transcript in my application?

Bachelor's programmes

Transcripts of secondary school are not required for bachelor's applications.

Master's programmes

Applicants are required to upload final transcripts (the record of all courses and grades from their Bachelor's degree education for MA programs) in the original language, stamped and signed by the authorized university office or by a notary public official. Transcripts whose original language is not English or Czech should be accompanied by an official English language translation, stamped and signed by a translating company or an authorized university office.

I have not graduated yet; what should I do?

Applicants whose graduation date is after the application deadline shall upload their up-to-date transcript (in English or Czech, stamped and signed by the authorized university office or by a notary public official) and an official confirmation (in English) from their undergraduate institution stating the applicant's name, study programme, and date of graduation. Transcripts whose original language is not English or Czech should be accompanied by an official English language translation, stamped and signed by a translating company or an authorized university office. Applicants are required to submit their final diploma and transcript as soon as possible.

Is a test needed for admission?

Bachelor's programmes

Yes, an entrance test is required. Information on the test can be found on the admissions page for bachelor's studies.

Master's programmes

There is no test required for programs at FSS, however students must submit all application requirements, and applicants will be invited for online skype interview in English with the admission committee.

Is there an entrance exam?

Master's programmes

There is no entrance exam. The admission committee reviews your application materials on which the admission decision is based. Applicants may be invited for online skype interview in English with the admission committee

How much is an application fee?

The application fee is 450 CZK for bachelor's programmes and 700 CZK for master's programmes. It is payable by credit (debit) card only. The application fee is non-refundable.

All applications received by the appropriate deadline with the application fee paid are guaranteed full consideration by the admissions committee, unless any part of their application is found to be plagiarized. By submitting their applications, all applicants confirm that they understand it is an offence to submit inaccurate information, or plagiarized or fraudulent documentation, and that the University may decline such applications.

Do I need an English proficiency certificate?

Bachelor's programmes

Applicants for the bachelor's studies are required to submit an English certificate or take an English test through the Masaryk University Language Centre unless they meet an exception.

Master's programmes

Applicants whose first language is not English are required to provide satisfactory evidence of their proficiency in English.

If you don't have any official certificate you can ask your previous/current school to give you the proof of English. You can also write honest statement to confirm your level of English.

Can I apply for different programs during the same admission?

Yes, it's possible to apply for more programs during the same admission. It's necessary to submit and pay separate application for each program and also there may be the skype interview for each program.

Can I apply again for the same program during the same admission if I was already not accepted?

This is not possible, you can apply again for the same program in the next admission.
