PHD ADMISSION GUIDE
The entire admission process, including entrance exams or interviews, is conducted online for your convenience.

If you require a visa to study in the Czech Republic, we strongly recommend submitting your application at least one month before the deadline.
Non-OECD Countries: Please be aware that the visa process may take longer than expected.
Document Validity: University admission documents must not be older than 180 days at the time of your visa application. If they are older, the embassy will not accept them.

Before submitting your application, please ensure you have all the necessary documents ready. All documents must be scanned and uploaded as one single PDF file into the designated section of your e-application.
The required documents vary depending on the program you are applying for:
International Relations and European Politics: This program has specific requirements including a statement of purpose and an essay. You can find the detailed requirements here.
Other Bachelor's Programs: For all other English-taught Bachelor's programs, please follow the general admission requirements.

Autumn: 01 November–15 May / Spring: 01 July–31 October)
The admission fee for Bachelor's programs is 800 CZK (approx. 35 EUR) for each application.
Payment Method: Payment is made via the MU online shop (link/instructions are in your e-application). You will use your bank's exchange rate (card, as well as bank transfer payments are possible).
Variable Symbol: Use the individual identification code generated by the system for each application.
Multiple applications: You can pay for multiple applications with a single payment if needed.
The application is only complete when: You have submitted the e-form, paid the application fee and attached all required documents + if required by the program, registered for an online exam.
No refunds: Please note that the application fee is non-refundable.
Autumn: From January to June / Spring: From September to December
The responsible department will assess the documents you submitted within your online application. GAP tests or interviews are taking place – depends on the program you applied for. Follow the instructions sent to you via e-mail by admission staff.
Autumn: From February / Spring: From September
We will notify you about the result of the admission process via e-mail. Results are released on a rolling basis. The earlier you submit a complete application, the sooner you will receive your decision
After Acceptance
After acceptance, please follow all information provided by your Department, the Program, and the International Office.
Submit Final Transcript: Once you graduate from secondary school (if you applied while still enrolled), you must submit your final transcript.
Education Recognition: You must submit your prior degrees (secondary school, BA, or MA) for recognition.
Important: While this can be finalized upon arrival in Brno, crucial steps must be taken in your home country first. You will receive detailed instructions from us.
Note: Students who studies in the Czech Republic and Slovakia are exempt from this process.
Visa Application: If you are a non-EU citizen, apply for a student visa immediately. Detailed information about the process is available here.
Apply for Accommodation: Secure your spot in MUNI dormitories or private housing.
Note: Applications for MUNI dorms typically open in January for the February start date (Spring intake).
Before and After You Arrive
Orientation Week (OW): Register for the Orientation Week to meet your classmates and get to know Brno.
Travel to Brno: Plan your arrival for early September (Autumn) or February (Spring).
Physical Enrollment: Complete your enrollment at the faculty, get your ISIC card, and set up your university accounts.
Don´t wait for the deadline. We assess the applications continuously. If you are a Non-EU citizen, the sooner you complete the admission process, the sooner you can apply for the visa!
