Practical Information

About the presentations:

ORAL PRESENTATIONS

The total time allocated for regular sessions is 1.5 hours with each session comprising four presentations. This means a slot of 22.5 minutes per participant. The recommended format is 10-15 minutes of presentation and 5-10 minutes of discussion. The session chair may set aside time for discussion after each presentation or at the end of the session.

We expect the usual format of a scientific presentation with a theoretical introduction, a presentation of results, and a generalizing conclusion. Presentations can be in PowerPoint format or in pdf format. If you would like to use a different format, please let us know in advance. Please keep in mind font legibility; usually, anything smaller than 18 pt is not visible from a distance. Please deliver your presentation to the chair no later than 10 minutes before the start of your session. A PC with Windows 10 will be available on-site. Please let us know if you need to use your own laptop.

POSTER SESSIONS

We have no specific requirements for the size and format of posters. Anything up to 150 cm in height and 100 cm in width is acceptable. If your poster is larger, please let us know in advance. Posters will be hung on stands in the conference room. Presenters will be asked to put up their posters during the break preceding the poster session (end of lunch break). The total time allocated for the poster session is 1.5 hours. We ask all presenters to prepare a short and concise summary of their contribution (1 minute speech per participant) that they will deliver at the beginning of the session. Refreshments and a glass of wine or sparkling wine will be available during the session. Poster mounting supplies will be provided by organisers.

Travelling to Brno:

Czech Republic as an EU member state is part of the Schengen area. A valid passport (or ID card for EU citizens) is required for entry into Czech Republic. A visa may be required for some non-EU countries.

Brno has an airport, but at the time of COVID only flights from/to London Stansted are operated. (Web of Brno Airport)

The nearest major airports are in Vienna (2 hours), Bratislava (2 hours) or Prague (3.5 hours). Eurocity trains run to Brno on routes between Vienna (Budapest) and Berlin.

Tips for accommodation:

It is no problem to find accommodation in the city centre within a reasonable distance to the venue. The conference date does not collide with any major event so there should be no limits to availability of rooms. We may recommend three well-established hotels within 10-15 min walk from the Faculty:
- Hotel Continental (from approx. € 90 per night), https://www.continentalbrno.cz/en/
- Hotel International (from approx. € 130 per night), https://www.hotelinternational.cz/en/
- Hotel Barcelo (from approx. € 150 per night), https://www.barcelo.com/en-ie/barcelo-brno-palace/

You'll find more extensive accommodation options on Booking.com ranging from an WWII air-raid shelter to a pearl of the wild transformation capitalism of the 1990s.
