Don't have a computer due to the floods? The faculty is offering help

Students of the Faculty of Social Studies at Masaryk University have the option to borrow IT equipment if they were affected by the September floods or if they are in a difficult social situation. The faculty is responding to the current issues with the availability of technology that students need for their studies and is offering loans of laptops, tablets, webcams, and headphones

Who is entitled to borrow the IT equipment?

Students who meet at least one of the following conditions:

  1. Permanent residence in an area affected by the September 2024 floods. The student must provide an affidavit, which is part of the justification in the IS application.
  2. Permanent residence in an area affected by another natural disaster, or if the student has been exposed to the effects of a natural disaster. The student must provide an affidavit, which is part of the justification in the IS application.
  3. Social disadvantage. The student must provide proof of social disadvantage through a document from the Labor Office, the Department of State Social Support (e.g., confirmation of receiving social benefits), or another appropriate form. The condition is that the household's income for the 2023 calendar year does not exceed the product of the family’s subsistence minimum and a coefficient of 3.0. The subsistence minimum is determined by Act No. 110/2006 Coll. The confirmation must not be older than one month from the date of application submission.

How to apply?

The procedure is simple.If you meet at least one of the above conditions, you can apply for a loan of the mentioned equipment. Submit your application through the “Document Office” application in IS MU. Once your application has been processed, you will be notified via IS about the next steps. The borrowed equipment can be picked up at the FSS library.

Applications are processed immediately until the equipment stock is depleted.The loan is always for one semester.
