English-taught Bachelor Programmes

Students who study at the Faculty of Social Studies for their bachelor's degree find themselves opened to the world of opportunities. Classes are taught by experts in their field, as well as visiting professors from well-known universities around the world. Masaryk University, as the second largest university in the Czech Republic is able to invite ambassadors and experts in their fields.

Application Deadlines

Application deadlines:

Applicants who wish to enrol for the Spring semester 2025 can submit their applications from 1 July 2024 until 31 October 2024.

Applicants who wish to enrol for the Autumn semester 2025 can submit their applications from 1 November 2024 until 15 May 2025.

* For students from countries that require visa to study in the Czech Republic, we recommend applying at least one month earlier to give more time for the visa process, however we will accept applications from all students up to the deadlines listed. For students from non-OECD countries, please note that the visa process may take longer than expected.

Note: the admission documents from the university can´t be older than 180 days at the time you apply for visa otherwise your visa application will not be accepted at the embassy.

In case you wish to apply for some kind of scholarship and you need to have the acceptance letter in advance, please consider that it´s necessary to submit and pay the online application one month before you need the admission documents. Additionally, you must inform the admission office about this request via email.

Application Fees

Fees associated with the admission procedure for Bachelor programs were set at 800 CZK.

You will find full instructions in the e-application and you will use your bank's exchange rate (card, as well as bank transfer payments are possible). The applicants are required to pay the fee for each application submitted. Payment information for each electronic application, including individually assigned identification code, is generated by the Information System following the submission of the online form. The system generates a bill after each individual e-application is filled out.

When submitting more than one application, the applicant can pay for all applications with a single payment. Payment is made through the MU online shop. It is not necessary to confirm payment by post. Applicants who fail to attend the entrance examinations will not be refunded.

Tuition Fees

The tuition fees for English-taught Bachelor programs at the Faculty of Social Studies is 3000 EUR per year (1500 EUR per semester).

Tuition fees are due one month before the start of the semester (15 September for Autumn semester, 15 January for Spring semester).

Students will receive the necessary information about payment approximately two months before the deadline. Students who fail to pay by the stated deadline will not be enrolled to the programme and communication from the university will stop. In the case of visa rejection after tuition has been paid, students will be refunded 90% of the tuition payment.

Exemption: applicants meeting the condition below are exempt from any further English proficiency requirements.

  • Citizens from Australia, Canada, Ireland, Malta, the New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States of America

Application Procedure International Relations and European Politics

Bachelor´s program International Relations and European Politics

Students can only apply to the programme when the applications are open. To apply, go to the E-application – here you also find all details about the degree program and its admission requirements with the full list of recommended literature for the entrance exam, if applicable.

The admission procedure consists of two rounds:

Application Procedure Politics, Media and Communication and Global Challenges: Society, Politics, Environment

  • Submitting an application

    Students can only apply to the programme when the applications are open. To apply, go to the E-application – here you also find all details about the degree program and its admission requirements with the full list of recommended literature for the entrance exam, if applicable.

    A complete application means: submit the e-application, cover the application fee of CZK 800 (via bank card or bank transfer), and send all required documents for evaluation.

    You can submit the following documents: via the e-application form (see 6 slots called Appendix 1 etc.). be scanned into one PDF document).

    The documents we collect are:

    1. Secondary school certificate or proof of current studies
    2. Proof of English - ( see a list below)
    3. ID or passport copy

     

      4. You have to register for an online exam - online SCIO test for academic competency (the GAP test – General Academic Prerequisites) offered by Scio, and it must be paid in addition to the already paid application fee. The registration fee for the online exam is 27 €. You can choose one of the terms of the online exam (see terms and link for registration below).

    The minimum required percentile is 30.

    Step-by-Step Guide to Scio Tests Registration

    The test is organized by Scio. You have to register on their website: https://www.scioexams.com/.

    1. On the main website, choose DATES AND REGISTRATION under University Admission.
    2. Click on REGISTER on the Dates and Registration site.
      Please make sure to select a date that allows you to submit your application by the application deadline.  It is up to you which dates you select. However, please keep in mind that we evaluate your application only once we have all the required documents and test results.
    3. Login (existing accounts) or register (new accounts) with your e-mail address.
      Make sure that your e-mail is correct and that you use your own personal e-mail. You will be contacted by Scio with information about the exam. If you do not check your inbox and miss the exam date because of that, we cannot help you.
    4. Select a date.
    5. Select the test you want to take ( GAP).
      Unless you are in Czechia or Slovakia and want to take the test on-site, please make sure to register for the tests administered online.
    6. Choose the exam service(s) you prefer.
      The “MINI” package (this includes only the test and no further services) is sufficient to participate in the exam.
      Then click on CONTINUE.
    7. And then… click on CONTINUE again!
    8. Fill out the form.
      MAKE SURE TO CHECK THE BOX “Send the best result to the faculties to which I apply”. Otherwise, Scio cannot share your results with us.
    9. Choose your payment method.
    10. Check your order and confirm it.
    11. Pay for your order.
    12. You are now registered for the exam. You will receive more information from Scio via e-mail

    The whole process is performed on-line.

After Acceptance

After acceptance, students should follow all necessary information provided by the Department, the Program, and the International Office. For more information, please review our incoming students page.

Students who are accepted to the program will need to do the following.

  1. Submit final transcript once graduated from secondary school (if applying while still enrolled).
  2. Students must submit their prior degrees (secondary school, BA, MA, etc) for recognition, this can be done once arriving in Brno, but steps must be taken in your home country. All accepted students receive detailed information from us regarding this process.
    • Please note: students who have studied in the Czech Republic and Slovakia do not need to go through this process. Always follow directions provided by the admissions office.
  3. Apply for a visa student if a non-EU citizen. More information about the visa process is available here.
  4. Apply for accommodation
    • Please note: applications for accommodation in MUNI dormitories open in January for the February start date.
