The alarm signaling the drill began ringing around 11 a.m. Shortly afterward, all staff and students received a text message notifying them that this was a fire drill.

“We intentionally chose a time when a large number of staff and students would be in the building, so we could identify any potential weaknesses,” explained David Jati, Head of the Building Management Unit.

In the event of an evacuation, in addition to the main staircase leading toward Joštova Street, two emergency exits located at the rear of the building may also be used. These stairways lead out to Marešova Street. The designated assembly point for FSS MUNI is located by the Red Church (Červený kostel).

“It’s important to test these procedures so that we’re prepared in the event of a real emergency. This time, the evacuation took 11 minutes — we’re satisfied. Apart from a few minor issues, everything went smoothly,” said Dean Stanislav Balík. The Faculty management will continue to evaluate the drill in detail to ensure that all shortcomings are fully identified.

Thank you to everyone for the coordinated and orderly exit from the building during the drill.
