An awards ceremony, plenty of fun and sports activities, and great food — this April, the Faculty once again held its traditional Faculty Day, which this year also brought a number of new additions.
Popcorn made its debut as a refreshment this year — its aroma filled the atrium, and the stand was buzzing with activity all day long. For the first time, visitors to the atrium could also try airbrush body art and get a stylish temporary tattoo. Thanks to everyone who brought their own plates and cups, this year’s event was more ecologically sustainable.
As every year, Faculty Day was marked by an outstanding atmosphere. A beautiful April Tuesday began with the presentation of the I. A. Bláha Awards and the Dean’s Awards.
Before the auditorium was transformed into a sports arena following the award ceremony, Dean Stanislav Balík took a moment to answer a few questions about current developments at the Faculty.
The program continued with sporting events and tournaments in table tennis and badminton. The popular stair run brought the athletic competitions to a close.
Throughout the day, visitors could also enjoy foosball, a spinning wheel of fortune, and—new this year—airbrush body art and a popcorn stand. Outside the Faculty building, hot grills offered sausages, meat-free curry, and a salad bar. Refreshments were provided by stands pouring lemonade and non-alcoholic beer on tap — all with the help of our academic staff. On the occasion of the anniversary of the Velvet Revolution, the President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, held a discussion with students at the Faculty of Social Studies. Nearly two hundred students filled the lecture hall to capacity, and the event was covered by student media outlets Radio R, MUNI TV, Studex, Atrium, and Stisk.
On November 8th, more than seven hundred high school students spent their Saturday exploring the cozy corners of our faculty. In addition to experiencing the atmosphere of our classrooms, they also received valuable insights from current FSS MUNI students. Furthermore, they learned a great deal about the admissions process and the study programs at the faculty from the Office for Studies. That was this year’s Open Day at our faculty. The next major event for prospective students at FSS MUNI will be the Open Day on January 16th.
