Faculty begins to value a third role
One of the important, but so far under-appreciated, roles of universities is its service to society (the so-called "third role"). This service to society can take many forms, such as participating in important public debates, popularising science, serving on advisory panels and in professional societies, or through the results of applied research.
The Faculty will newly recognize the activity of its departments in the area of this third role. A portion of the research development budget ("DRKVO") will be allocated to departments based on their activity in their field from 2022. In this way, the Faculty can show that it does not want to be a closed and isolated institution at all. On the contrary: we are building and maintaining relationships with actors at all levels - local, regional, national and international. The goal of actively bringing our scientific knowledge and the academic culture and values of our faculty into practice will be an important priority in the upcoming period.
