Hi everyone! My name is Dahlia Sofea I am the student Ambassador of the Bachelor's Degree programme: Politics, Media and Communication. There are many exciting stories I wish to tell you about my time in Brno, Czech Republic. However, I will share my experience with Brno's healthcare system and procedures today. As most of you know, Brno is a very safe and secure student city; the healthcare will never bail on you. In October of my autumn semester, I faced a minor accident, which led me to be admitted to one of the Hospitals for a week. Thank you to my very lovely and helpful friends, an ambulance was called directly to me and I believe in a span of 10 minutes, the paramedics arrived to the scene. The procedure was straightforward. I was assisted into the ambulance and immediately got taken care of. The paramedics asked me a few questions regarding the cause of the incident and quickly caught on to how I needed medical attention. Without further delay, I was rushed to the hospital and sent to the ER.

Most of the medical staff and the Doctors are highly sufficient in English so I had no worries communicating my needs. I realized it is important to have a stable and secure insurance card in case of any emergencies. I highly stress everyone to purchase your insurance cards just like I did. During my stay, the nurses made me feel at home and taken care of. I have never been warded ever since birth, so doing it without my mum really gave me an experience I can share in the future. The nurse regularly monitored my meals, sleeping routine etc. Furthermore, they brought me to all my appointments and cardio checkups daily. So far, I can confirm Brno’s hospitals are exceptionally equipped and they will thoroughly do checkups until they find out the problem and how to recover it. Besides the significant medical attention I received, I would like to mention the unconditional devotion my best friends and teachers quickly offered me during the hard times. I sincerely appreciate everyone who took time out of their day to satisfy my food cravings and chat with me until visiting hours were over ;) All in all, Brno is really safe for students and if you are ever in trouble, the Frontliners are just one call away.
