  1. How has your Bachelor‘s/Master‘s of Social Studies degree helped shape your career path?

In my case, the degree did not change my path -I was working in the energy sector in Georgia before the program, and it became the turning point in my life to go and look for a program that would give me the knowledge I was looking for. Afterwards, I found the Masaryk University program on Google.

2. Can you share some examples of the specific skills and knowledge you gained during your program that have been valuable in your professional life?

I am currently working for an energy company in the IT department. To be able to understand how energy systems, markets, and stakeholders work is crucial for me to make correct IT decisions which would benefit the business.

3. What were some of the most memorable courses or experiences during your Bachelor‘s/Master's program?

I really liked the experience of my Diploma seminar. For me, writing my thesis was really good because working with the supervisor back and forth really taught me a lot, even though I was not expecting that. In the end, the process taught me how to choose a methodology properly, and how to react and address the criticism from the supervisor. And, of course, doing proper research was the biggest lesson.

4. How did your program prepare you for working in a diverse and multicultural society?

The program did not influence my case because I have been working in international environments since 2013.

5. Did you have any opportunities for practical fieldwork or internships during your program? If so, how did they contribute to your learning and career development?

I started working at an IT company while studying r at Masaryk University. Working in IT and studying at Masaryk University made me realize how indivisible energy and IT sectors are. These two experiences became the reasons for me to be an employee of an energy company in the IT department.

6. Have you pursued further education or specialised training after completing your Bachelor‘s/Master‘s of Social Studies degree?

No, but I am thinking about Ph.D.

7. What initially attracted you to the field of social studies, and has that motivation evolved over time?

Me being Georgian and witnessing a war in 2008 with my own eyes have pushed me to find ways to change the future of my country. This was the reason why I chose social science in 2009 and energy policy in 2019. I see a lot of opportunities in my country in terms of energy which can bring a better future for the country on every level. But till I contribute to that it's time for international experience first.

8. What advice would you give to current students of the Bachelor‘s/Master‘s of Social Studies program who are looking to make the most of their education and prepare for future careers?

Even though I was working and studying at the same time, I think it was not a good combination. I advise everyone to study first and work after.
