  1. How was your experience at Masaryk university?

My experience at Masaryk University was amazing. When I moved to Czech Republic in 2016, it was my first time being so far away from home and without any family close by.

The International Students office was aware of that and they would constantly check up on me to make sure I was adjusting and help whenever I needed help, despite the many students, there is always a personal touch to everything. The buddy system was very helpful as I met someone who instantly became a friend and helped me to settle in. Also, it was an opportunity not only to further my studies but cultural enrichment as I met different people from different cultures and also learned about their cultures. The diverse environment added a valuable perspective to my overall learning experience especially as a Sociology major.

2. What did you enjoy the most about studying at Masaryk University?

The diverse social environment is definitely one of the things I enjoyed the most about studying at Masaryk. And the different interactive techniques of teaching always made even the most difficult classes interesting. I can vividly remember Werner Binder’s lectures because he always made them very interesting and would build connection with each one of us.

3. What did you learn during your studies that attracted you the most?

I learnt to be honest and true to myself no matter the situation and these are values I still uphold even today.

4. What are your plans for the future of your academic career?

Currently I am taking a break from academics but I definitely want to pursue my PhD once I am settled in my career.

5. Do you have any advice for the incoming students that you would like to share?

School days are the best, enjoy them and make the best out of them! Make use of this time to pave way for your career and take it as a networking opportunity. Build connections with professors, fellow students, and industry professionals, they can be beneficial for future career opportunities.
