Scholarships and Stipends

There are three different responsible parties for scholarships and stipends for international students: university wide, departmental specific, or those offered by the Faculty of Social Studies. 

Stipends and scholarships at Masaryk University

All degree students at Masaryk University can use the university stipends and scholarships. Each semester, there are accommodation subsidies available as a small contribution to living costs. Direct subsidy for meals can be used in the canteens. There is a wide range of study abroad scholarships to spend a semester at our European or overseas partner universities. Newcomers Scholarship

Masaryk University offers financial support of 100,000 CZK (circa 4,100 EUR) to students enrolled in bachelor's and master's full-time programmes taught in languages other than Czech and coming from countries chosen according to the international marketing strategy of MU. FAFSA - American students

Masaryk University is eligible to certify loan applications for the Federal Direct Student Loan Program and is open to accept US students who want quality education for their future career. For all who seek profound academic training with a strong research background with superb facilities for study and work, Masaryk University can be an excellent choice. More information can here.

Faculty stipends and scholarships

The Faculty of Social Studies supports its best students by varied stipends - these are awarded for publications in impacted journals and activities contributing to the representation of the university. Besides, various mobility programs and scholarships to support study-abroad semesters and shorter periods are available. Below are the list of scholarships and stipends available to international students who study in English-taught programmes at FSS

Scholarships available for students of English taught study programmes at FSS

FSS Provision no. 10/2023

4B: Scholarship for student assistants at offices of the Dean’s Office and specialized units. (Stipendijní program pro studentské asistenty děkanátu a účelových pracovišť fakulty)

The scholarship is eligible to students assisting at offices of the Dean’s Office and specialized units. Such activities contribute to increasing the quality of the educational process and are beneficial for the academic community.

Students are chosen by departments, or through an open call, and therefore there is no 'application' for this scholarship.

4C: Scholarship for student assistants involved in PR and representative Faculty events. (Stipendijní program pro studentské asistenty v rámci propagačních a reprezentačních aktivit fakulty)

The scholarship is eligible to students involved in PR and representative events of the Faculty and its units. Such activities contribute to the promotion of the Faculty and its units, increase credentials of the Faculty in public and are beneficial to the academic community.

Students are chosen by departments, or through an open call, and therefore there is no 'application' for this scholarship.

Stipend support for students of English-taught study programmes at Masaryk university, Faculty of Social Studies 2024

FSS Provision no. 2/2024

  1. Stipend scheme for supporting long-term internships abroad for Faculty students studying in English-taught study programmes
  2. Stipend scheme for supporting shorter-term internships abroad for Faculty students studying in English-taught study programmes
  3. Stipend support scheme awards for the best students in pre-graduate English-taught study programmes (BA and MA studies)

Departmental scholarships

Besides, departmental scholarships are available - at some departments as direct help towards the tuition fee costs, or as extraordinary stipends rewarding some special achievements. For more information, please ask your programme guarantor. These scholarships are decided by the department, students do not need to apply for them.
