Masaryk Model United Nations 2024
Masaryk Model United Nations 2024 (MUNI MUN 2024) brought together 140 delegates from diverse academic backgrounds spanning six faculties of Masaryk University.
The event, which started with a six-month stay of Prof. Carol Wise as a Fulbright Scholar at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of MU, built on several years of cooperation between academics from both departments and further developed it.
The following colleagues took part in the workshop and presented the first versions of their academic texts: Prof. Carol Wise, Prof. Robert English, and Prof. Steve Swerdlow from USC; Prof. Alison Brysk from the University of California - Santa Barbara, Dr. Heribert Dieter from the German Institute for International and Security Affairs in Berlin, Prof. Marta Jaroszewicz from the University of Warsaw and Prof. Jeremy Garlick from the Prague University of Economics and Business. From the home department, Prof. Zdeněk Kříž, Assoc. Prof. Oldřich Krpec and dr. Martin Chovančík presented their work.
The topics addressed included the war in Ukraine, the issue of migration, post-war reconstruction, and war crimes, as well as the political, economic, and military responses of other actors, including the V4 countries, Germany and China. This was the first stage of a longer-term collaboration that the group of academics and researchers will continue, either in online meetings over the summer or during a planned trip to California this fall.

The English International School of Bratislava, comprising 15 students and accompanied by two teachers, paid a visit to the Faculty of Social Studies. The International Relations Office prepared a captivating program for them.
