During the first session, we addressed the use of AI in teaching. Five presenters shared their experiences, both positive and negative, providing hopefully some interesting inspiration for lessons at FSS. The first speaker, Tomáš Foltýnek (FI) introduced the topic of AI on a more general level. His presentation also included ideas for actively using AI when assigning tasks.

Following his presentation, four colleagues provided shorter inputs, demonstrating their individual uses of AI in working with students. Lenka Smejkalová (Pharm) presented how she used AI to get students to work effectively with databases, Michal Krčál (Econ) showed the creation of case studies, Jiří Pazourek (Pharm) discussed the possibilities of using AI for research work in writing bachelor's and master's theses, and last but not least, Nadya Jaworsky (FSS) shared her experience of using AI in writing essays.

AI in research

The second part of the afternoon dedicated to the use of artificial intelligence was conducted by experts from the FSS, who discussed the various possibilities of using AI in scientific and research activities. Jan Kleiner from the Department of Political Science showed how AI can help in qualitative and quantitative data analysis. Lucie Galčanová Batista from the Department of Environmental Studies gave a very practical analysis of the tools that can be used to transcribe interviews into a text form. Adriana Iľavská from the Department of International Relations and European Studies discussed the possibilities, advantages and disadvantages provided by different AI tools in literature review processing. The session was concluded by David Lacko from IRTIS, whose contribution showed that AI can be used at virtually all stages of research, but its outputs always need to be checked.
