Internship at the University of Fribourg in Switzerland
Colleagues from the Office for Research and Project Support, Ing. Jitka Wolfová and Jitka Hotárková, participated in an internship at the University of Fribourg in Switzerland at the beginning of September. The main topic of the internship was the exchange of information on the possibilities of funding cooperation in the field of research and research stays.

The University of Fribourg has 5 faculties, of which the most interesting for them were the Faculty of Humanities and the Faculty of Management, Economics, and Social Sciences.
The Faculty of Humanities is involved in research in the fields of philosophy (systematic philosophy and history of philosophy), psychology (clinical, cognitive, and psychology of work and organizational psychology), and social sciences (sociology, anthropology, social policy, and religious studies), among others. Interfaculty institutes such as the Institute for Family and Counselling Research, the Institute of Environmental Sciences and Humanities, the Interdisciplinary Institute of Ethics and Human Rights, and the Centre for European Studies are of particular interest.
In addition to Horizon Europe and the COST program, there are several opportunities for the funding of joint research activities through the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF). These include 1-6 month research stays of Czech researchers in Switzerland and Swiss researchers at research institutes in the Czech Republic, as well as cooperation in the preparation of research projects jointly by SNSF and GA ČR (Lead agency cooperation) or scholarships for Czech researchers including PhD students in Swiss research institutions.
The colleagues met with Dr. Katja Wright (Head of Research office), Dr. Matthias Held (SNSF Support, EU Funding, International Funding), Dr. Regine Maritz (SNF Support, Projects in the Humanities and the Social Studies), Dr. Doris Kolly (European Programmes (UniFR, Companies), Euresearch) and Dr. Efrain Ochoa Martinez (University rankings, ORCid, Research Information System RIS).
Fribourg has 40,000 inhabitants including 10,000 students. The only bilingual university in Switzerland is located in Fribourg. Almost all disciplines offer students the possibility to study in German, French, or both languages. In addition, international study programs are offered in English. Currently, students of 110 nationalities study there.
The city of Fribourg is a medieval jewel. The historic city center with its Gothic cathedral, narrow streets, old bridges, taverns, and picturesque squares makes it an extremely pleasant place to live. Thanks to its location at the foot of the Alps and at less than 20 kilometers from Lake Morat, it offers a huge variety of recreational and sporting activities.
For more information on future cooperation, please do not hesitate to contact the Office for Research and Project Support. They will be happy to help you with the preparation of your proposals and, based on the contacts they have made at the University of Fribourg, they will also help you to establish possible concrete cooperation.
