MU is now “age-friendly”
The Center for Research on Ageing (CERA) is a newly established working group of the Department of Sociology at the FSS MU. As one of its first steps, it celebrated the accession of Masaryk University to the global network of age-friendly universities.

The accession is an important symbolic act of committing to ten principles that should help MUNI develop its research and teaching goals to be even more sensitive to the needs of different age groups. The principles also involve inclusive HR policies and the so-called third role of universities, i.e. the involvement of different age groups in the life of the university, and in turn the effective impact of the university's activities on the community in which it operates. Joining the global network of age-friendly universities opens up a number of possibilities for finding new forms of cooperation within FSS and across the university, as well as new opportunities for participation in international projects or the promotion of civic science. The CERA team of the Department of Sociology is now preparing a basic roadmap of recommendations on how to make use of this comparative advantage. For example, it is already providing advice to other economic centers on how to involve age in the preparation of gender audits, or how to prepare for working with age-diverse learners. Courses on this topic are provided, for example, in the framework of CERPEK.
