Creativity with the smell of coffee
FSS Open Day, the applicant campaign, FSS buddies and ambassadors in secondary schools, the organization of Semester-Start, Semester-End, and Teas with the Dean, the management of social networks, and FSS website, as well as the preparation of the newsletter you are reading right now. These are just a few of the activities of the FSS Communications Department, headed by the always upbeat Zdeňka Savarová.

A creative writer and diligent communicator who always looks for new challenges. This is how Zdeňka sees herself, and as her colleagues in the office confirm, it is definitely an apt description. Although she has been working at the faculty for less than a year, this is not her first experience with MUNI and especially with FSS. Zdeňka studied journalism and German at MUNI and so her return to the FSS academic environment came with a touch of nostalgia. Before that, she had gathered a variety of work experiences in the editorial office of a daily newspaper, in a multinational corporation where she took care of internal communication or prepared documents for the press department. She also helped a family business set up its approach to marketing.
“Returning to the faculty in a new role after more than a decade is a blast, even if the work in the communications department has often been hindered by the pandemic. We have to react quickly to the current situation, which forces us to constantly come up with new ideas and rethink older ones. I appreciate the attitude of the management and my surroundings to try new things and I really enjoy working with students. And the views from the office on the fifth floor are a wonderful bonus,” Zdeňka said.
If you have the feeling that there is often an intense aroma of good coffee wafting across the fifth floor quite, know that it probably comes from office 5.08. It's a byproduct of her exploring the world of coffee and tea, along with cycling around Europe in search of wine that Zdeňka likes to do in her spare time. And she supplies the whole department with speciality coffee.
And what does the Vice-Dean for Communication Veronika Zapletalová say about the cooperation with Zdeňka? „Working with Zdeňka and the entire staff of the Communications Department - Nicol, Máša, and Hanka - is pure joy for me and to a large extent a dream come true. Funny, imaginative, and productive brainstorming sessions are exactly the moments that I look forward to every week. The great coffee I get for our meetings is the icing on the cake. What I appreciate most about Zdenka is her professionalism, responsibility, friendliness, and above all her ability to think "outside the box,“ without which we could not move forward.
