People of FSS: Who is Alena Lorencová?
Support and not just for projects

MVDr. Alena Lorencova, Ph.D. works at the Research and Project Support Department. She has been at our faculty since 2018 and sent her first e-mail to staff@fss.muni.cz with instructions for the GAČR competition just 4 days after her start. Alča came to us from the Veterinary and Pharmaceutical University Brno, where she worked as an assistant professor at the Research Institute of Veterinary Medicine, focusing on microbiological food safety. Among other things, she was interested in how to process the meat of livestock living outdoors so that the meat we buy in stores does not contain viruses, bacteria or parasites.
Alča provides support in the submission and implementation of grant projects. What does this involve? You can contact her if you want to submit a grant project proposal but do not know in which competition. She will recommend suitable grant calls. Once you have chosen the competition and are preparing the project proposal, she will help you unravel the Gordian knots of the tender documents, explain what each box in the application means and what it should contain, make sure that your project proposal contains all the formalities, and also ensure that the proposal be submitted in time to the person who announced the competition. During the implementation of the project, Alča will help you with the administrative requirements related to the start of the project, guide you through the maze of contracts and research credentials, help you arrange things with the administrative staff of your project partners, assist you with project changes, remind you of partial and final report deadlines and help you with all their formalities. She usually does all this extremely fast and with a smile, never leaving you to need to find out for yourself. That is also why our Vice-dean for Research and Doctoral Studies, Martin Vaculík, is very happy that Alča is on his team.
If you need support, you will find Alča on the fifth floor.
