Ph.D. graduates in spring 2023: From Russian influence to the negative effects of psychotherapy
Like every semester, in the spring of 2023 the faculty said goodbye to a number of successful graduates of the PhD programs. At the end of this spring, 13 students completed their doctoral studies.
Lívia Gažová graduated from the sociology program with her research focused on official magazines on architecture and planning in the era of real socialism. Eva Kotašková explored the social and economic transformation of Svalbard. Terezie Lokšová explored the role of experts in citizen participation projects. Jeffrey Alan Norquist researched the American discourse against the spread of modern technology. Three theses were defended in the field of clinical psychology. Luboš Chvála researched the negative effects of psychotherapy. Adam Klocek analyzed the possibilities of mathematical tools for psychotherapeutic research. Martina Klocková explored the possibilities of psychotherapeutic treatment in patients with medically unexplained somatic symptoms. In social psychology, Michal Mužík graduated with the topic of links between authoritarianism, perceived threats, emotions, and restrictive attitudes. Nika Šablaturová examined the excessive use of social media by adolescents. Alžběta Šašinková graduated with research on immersive virtual reality, with a degree in the field of general psychology.
There were two graduates from the International Relations and European Politics program. Jan Kotýnek Krotký researched debates on illegal immigration in the European Parliament. Ahmad Shah focused on the mistakes of American policy in Afghanistan. Miroslava Pačková graduated from the Political Science program with a thesis and research on the active influence of Russia in the information space.
We congratulate them all and wish them the best of luck on their future academic and non-academic journeys. Seventeen new Ph.D. students also enrolled this spring, so we can look forward to more exciting research projects in the future.
