Popis This paper attempts to join current discussions that reflect the peculiar past development of cities in the former state-socialist countries. Its primary aim is to stress the need to think about ‘socialist cities’ as inherently interconnected with the cities in the ‘West’ and to reflect their history prior to 1989 as related to other contexts. It focuses on urban planning as a specific sphere where connections have been established. This approach changes the way we see the inscription of the past in the urban space and challenges the way the past is being remembered through urban space.
