| Popis | Research-based learning – students carrying out research processes themselves – rarely takes place in the introductory phase of studies and with educational science methods. Little research has been done on whether research-based learning can promote interest in teaching-learning topics and research. Therefore, this article addresses whether and how research-based learning in the introductory phase of studies can promote interest in teaching-learning topics and research through the application of research methods. The current study presents a novel teaching concept for research-based learning, the one-semester project laboratory EduLab, where orientation students learn about teaching-learning topics and social science research methods, thereby enabling them to carry out their own empirical research project. The research question is investigated through qualitative semi-structured interviews. The interest in teaching-learning topics was high in the beginning and was one of the reasons for choosing this project laboratory. While this thematic interest was sustained, the interest in research developed through the implementation of the research process, where the choice of topics, practically relevant questions and close supervision were helpful. The findings suggest that teaching-learning topics for research-based learning are particularly well-suited to the initial stages of studies. |
